Recent updates

  • 2026-10-16 OpenCode 2.0 is now the main release (latest v2.0.32, Oct 16). The server starts automatically as one local background service shared by the terminal, web and desktop apps, so you can start a session in one and continue it in another; opencode pair (or /pair) connects it to other applications. Plugins built for 1.x do not work in 2.0, and 1.x users upgrade with opencode upgrade --major. Source
  • 2026-10-16 OpenCode 2 changes the plugin API: V1 plugins do not run in V2 and must be ported, and the server API and clients have new contracts. Other V1 config, agents, commands and skills are meant to keep working. Source
  • 2026-10-16 OpenCode 2 ships an embeddable SDK (@opencode/sdk) that hosts OpenCode inside your app with no HTTP listener, and commands defined as subagents now run in the background and report back to the parent session. Source
  • 2026-10-16 Reflection's open-weight Beam model (501B total, 23B active parameters, 1M-token context) is now available in OpenCode, free for a limited time. Check OpenCode for how long the free access lasts. Source
